Tongue Tie
A tongue tie assessment is a detailed evaluation of your baby’s oral anatomy, feeding behaviour, and overall function to determine whether a tongue tie is affecting their ability to feed effectively.
Tongue Tie
During the assessment, we examine the appearance and movement of the tongue, observe a feed (breast or bottle), and discuss any concerns you may have. The goal is to provide clear information, reassurance, and tailored recommendations to support your baby’s feeding and comfort.
A standard tongue-tie appointment is a 1-hour assessment and includes a structured tongue-tie screening using the Hazelbaker Assessment Tool, in line with recommendations from the Association of Tongue-Tie Practitioners and used within NHS pathways. During the appointment, I will take a full feeding history and observe a feed to assess whether the tongue may be impacting function.
If a tongue-tie is identified and a frenotomy is appropriate and agreed, the appointment cost will increase to £220. This includes the procedure, immediate aftercare, support with the post-procedure feed, and provision of all relevant aftercare advice and documentation to take home, in line with professional guidelines.
